Muster:
Bauhaus ambiental light

"Art itself cannot be taught, but craftsmanship can. Architects, painters, sculptors are all craftsmen in the original sense of the word."

- Walter Gropius

Apart from teaching art, Bauhaus had a very important relationship with material. They implemented different obligatory workshops to the program and two of the strongest were the metal workshop and the textile workshop.

My assignments goal was to conjoin the works of these two most successful workshops. The pattern on the lamp was created with the help of a research on the textile patterns used at these workshops. I applied the selected pattern to the metal surface, with which I later crafted the ambiental lamp. Lamp called Muster (german for pattern) has two layers, which enable adjusting the light intensity. The intensity of the light in an enclosed space can be adjusted with a mere rotation of the lamp.
